TIME IS TICKING!
DON’T WAIT UNTIL IT’S TOO LATE
Every day countless irreplaceable documents and memories are lost to time and deterioration. It doesn’t have to be that way. With MAP, you can easily transfer your media, files, and memories into the highest resolution digital formats that will stand the tests of time.
Media Asset Preservation’s process digitally transfers all forms of media, film, video, documents, photos, and creates a customized, searchable database preventing the unintentional loss of personal history, corporate history, and government history.

THE PROCESS
Media Asset Preservation
Media Asset Preservation takes the risk out of storing film, video, documents, images, and book assets by digitizing them and storing them in a secure database. MAP has been a specialist in media transfer and archiving for over 27 years and can convert nearly any video format, file format, both motion picture and stills, and any audio format used over the last 100 years. Our process converts old media assets into digital formats, helping our clients more easily store, manage, and utilize their assets.
At Media Asset Preservation, we scan, transfer, digitize, and meta tag personal and corporate assets and then upload them to our custom designed searchable database. We provide an all-inclusive digital archiving service for all forms of documents, video tape, film, photographs, negatives, slides, blueprints, and more….. and the final database is both portable and web accessible using a protected password.
Organizations, individuals, large corporations, museums, non-profits, and companies all have rich histories spanning multiple media types and formats. Unless they are all professionally transferred and digitized, they run the risk of total loss due to improper storage and the inevitable degradation of sensitive and volatile formats, such as cellulose based film. It isn’t a matter of if this loss will happen, but one of when, and we don’t recommend being the individual responsible for not making the responsible decision.
SORTING & BARCODING
We start with the basics and barcode all media assets.
META DATA GENERATION
Meta Data, specific to each individual asset, is generated and entered into a spreadsheet.
VIDEO & FILM MEDIA DIGITIZING
Each media asset is digitized as uncompressed or motion jpeg AVI high quality master files for video and film.
AUDIO MEDIA DIGITIZATION
Audiotape is digitized as uncompressed WAV files.
DATABASE MASTER FILE ENCODING
Master files are encoded as H264 MP4 for video and film files and as MP3 for audio files.
DATABASE SET UP
MAP then incorporates your branding information.
DATABASE POPULATION
MAP then populates the database with the encoded compressed files and adds the searchable metadata.
DATABASE SET UP (CLIENT SIDE)
With zero limitations, the MAP database can be installed on as many computers as the customer desires, giving complete password-protected access to all their media.
FILE BACKUP PROCESS
As a standard practice, master and compressed database files are backed up on two sets of LTO5 tape; one set stored at MAP and the other set stored with the customer.
